Tips From A Lifelong Mover: Making Moving Easy

Growing up in a military family taught me a lot about preparing for and making a successful move. When I married into the military myself, I used a lot of that experience to make things easier for my children. I decided to create this blog to help others learn how to simplify the moving process as well. I hope that my experience and knowledge helps you to understand how to make the move easier for yourself and your family. In addition, I hope it helps you see when it could be beneficial to turn to a professional mover instead of trying to do it yourself.

4 Ways To Ensure A Smooth Corporate Move

Moving from one business location to another is a large task, which is why it is essential to know a few tricks for ensuring a smooth corporate moving process. A corporate move isn't something to be winged; it is something that you need to plan out and involve professionals with.

1. Understand that the Process Takes Time

With a corporate move, you often can't get the move done in a single day, especially if you are moving the office a significant distance. It may take a day to move all the servers and electronic equipment, another day to move the furniture and additional equipment, and another day to move the inventory. Moving a business requires transporting many items that often have to be handled in special ways and can take more than a day, especially if you are not just moving across town. Still, if you are moving to another nearby city or making a long-distance move, it is important to budget time for the full moving process.

2. Arrange for Parking

With a corporate move, you may be moving into and out of a building that someone else owns and that hosts other businesses as well. You can't just assume that you can pull up in front with a moving truck. Generally, you will need to get special permits or permission from the building owners or the city to park the moving truck for the duration of the moving process. You need to ensure that the proper permits and permission are obtained for the moving trucks.

3. Have Someone Present

Even if you hire the best corporate moving company around, you will want to plan to have someone present for the moving process. You will need to have someone who can direct the movers to where things are located in the office. You are going to need to have someone sign for moving equipment. You will want to have a point person present who can assist the moving crew if they have any questions.

4. Go Through Things

Going through belongings is not just a good idea for residential moves. It is a smart idea for corporate moves as well. As a business, you can just as easily accumulate junk that you don't need over time. Take the time before the movers arrive to go through everything in the office and arrange for the disposal or donation of unneeded items.

If your business needs to move to a new location, be sure to hire a commercial moving team in your area to help with the process. They will make a move as easy on you as possible, and if you get your team on board with the move, the process will be much simpler. Effective planning is the key to a successful and smooth corporate move.
